HISTOCHEMICAL STUDY OF THE PIGMENT FOUND IN THE EPITHELIUM OF THE KIDNEY OF THE PHILODRY AS SCHOTTII (SCHLEGEL)
1 Department of Histology, Escola Paulista de Medicina, São Paulo, Brasil
The authors studied histochemically the pigment observed within the cells of the proximal convolutions of the kidneys of the ophidian (Philodryas schottii), known in Brazil as "parelheira". The results demonstrate the existence of two pigments: an argentaffin, found in greater quantity and a chromolipoid of the lipofuscin type, in smaller amounts. Submitted on October 28, 1957
