RADIOAUTOGRAPHIC STUDIES ON NUCLEAR ACTIVITY IN THE LIVER

A. FICQ 1

1 Laboratoire de Morphologie Animale, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Bruxelles, Belgium

The present paper deals with observations of nucleic acid and protein metabolism (uptake of radioactive precursors) in liver nuclei either in vivo or in isolation. In the latter case cytoplasmic fractions appear to enhance the metabolism. Metabolism is also increased following partial hepatectomy. The liver has further been envisaged as playing a role in immunological reactions and the fixation of antigens has been demonstrated both in Kupffer and parenchymal cells.
